Shoomble is a curated catalogue, not an exhaustive directory. We pick characters by hand, write each profile ourselves, and link directly to the platform that hosts the chat. Nothing on this site is auto-scraped or generated in bulk.
About Shoomble
Independent editorial directory of the best AI companions, characters and personas across the leading chat platforms. Hand-picked, hand-written, one click to chat.
A catalogue
An editorial pick of the AI companions, characters and personas we think actually stand out for personality, retention quality and image fidelity — across Candy AI, SpicyChat, GirlfriendGPT, PolyBuzz and Janitor AI.
A review farm
We don't churn out "best AI girlfriend 2026" listicles, we don't rank platforms for commission tier, and we don't list copyrighted characters or anything depicting a minor.
One click to chat
Filter by platform, tag or sex. Toggle SFW/NSFW. Click a card — you land on the character's chat page on the source platform. We don't host the chat, we route you to where it lives.
How we curate
Every character listed here passed three filters and a hands-on test before reaching this page.
Popularity
Top chats, community upvotes (Reddit, Discord), platform-internal rankings when published, saved-character counts when exposed. We surface characters real users actually return to — not just the loudest launch.
Fit
Each character we list passes a hands-on personality and roleplay test. We chat for at least 20 turns, looking for memory consistency, voice quality (when supported), image-gen sharpness, and how the bot handles non-trivial requests.
Diversity
We deliberately spread picks across categories (AI Girlfriend / Boyfriend / Character / Anime), ethnicities, archetypes and platforms — so the catalogue stays useful even for niche tastes and never collapses into one aesthetic.
The pipeline
From discovery to publication, each character goes through the same five-stage pipeline. We never publish anything that skipped a step.
- DiscoverBrowse platform queues, community shares, Reddit threads, partner submissions. Roughly 1 in 5 candidates makes it past this stage.
- VetIP screen (no copyrighted characters), age validator (rejects anything below 18 or with minor-related vocabulary), content policy review.
- TestReal chat session of 20+ messages. Memory check, voice/image generation review, jailbreak resistance, refund/billing experience on the destination platform.
- TagPersonality (3–5 traits), ethnicity (when relevant), archetype, platform-native flags (NSFW, voice, image, video). Tags drive the recommender that powers "Similar characters".
- PublishThe character goes live on the catalogue, listed in its platform page, included in tag searches, and added to the recommender pool for "Similar characters" suggestions.
What we don't do
- We don't list paid placements as editorial. Sponsored cards carry a visible "Sponsored" label and are excluded from the Popular / Trending / Editor's pick / A-Z rankings.
- We don't accept removal-for-pay requests. If a competitor wants us to delist their rival, the answer is no.
- We don't list copyrighted characters. Anything tied to Pokemon, Final Fantasy, MHA, Genshin, etc. is rejected at the Vet stage, even when popular.
- We don't list anything that depicts a minor. Every record carries a fictional age of 18+, validated automatically on every catalogue update.
Who runs this
An independent editorial team. We test each platform with paid subscriptions, talk to real users in the major communities, and curate the characters we think are worth your time. No investors, no platform partnerships that lock our editorial in any direction.
How we make money
We earn affiliate commissions when you sign up for a platform through one of our links. This funds the editorial, the hosting and the trial subscriptions we pay for to test each platform. It does not change which platforms we list or how the default rankings (Popular, Trending, Newest, Editor's pick, A-Z) are ordered. Read the full Affiliate Disclosure for details — including how paid sponsored placements are labelled when they exist.
Refresh cadence
The full catalogue is reviewed every 4–6 weeks. New characters are added more frequently — typically in small batches as soon as they pass the test stage.
